Mark Rutte Once More Proves He Doesn’t Know What the Fuck He Is Doing

It is time for Mark Rutte to resign.
It is time for Mark Rutte to resign.

Let’s not pretend this is surprising. I’ve said it for weeks now: Mark Rutte is a dupe, a tool, and a moron—an empty suit who has no business anywhere near serious decision-making, let alone at the helm of NATO during a live war for the future of Europe. His record is one of smug superficiality, hollow gestures, and deeply unserious thinking about what security actually requires.

Remember when this clown once said, “If the EU doesn’t act, we’ll all be speaking Russian”? As if language was the core concern.

Even Anders Puck Nielsen—who rarely calls people out so directly—had to point out the stupidity of this take. The danger isn’t that Brits or Belgians will be swapping out English or Flemish for Russian in cafés. It’s that without tanks, without steel, and without missiles for Ukraine, Europe as a geopolitical power will cease to exist.

The threat isn’t linguistic—it’s existential. Only a clowncar thinker mistakes one for the other.

And then came the NATO summit. And what did Rutte do? Did he lead? Did he challenge the actual threat inside the alliance—Donald J. Trump, a man whose every instinct serves Putin’s aims? No. Rutte rolled over. He fawned. He all but called Trump daddy on stage. It was one of the most sycophantic performances in recent memory—disgraceful, desperate, and profoundly dangerous.

Trump should be out of office. Impeached and removed. He’s an active saboteur of NATO solidarity, using threats and coercion to serve Kremlin objectives. That should have been the story out of the summit—that NATO sees Trump as the problem to be solved. But Rutte handed him a photo op instead. He praised the orange saboteur in its midst, gave him cover at home, and legitimized a man who would happily see Ukraine fall and NATO unravel.

And now the collapse of the so-called NATO arms purchasing plan has exposed Rutte’s trip to Washington for what it was: a humiliating farce. France and Italy are out. Germany is hedging. The whole thing is unraveling because it was never a plan to begin with. It was a stage prop, meant to let Trump look like a statesman while delivering nothing. And Rutte played the role of useful idiot to perfection.

If there’s ever been a man less suited to lead NATO in wartime, his name is already lost to history. Because Mark Rutte has taken the crown. He is the apex of alliance incompetence.

The summit should have been a rallying cry against encroaching autocracy, against hesitation, against asymmetric betrayal. Instead, we got Rutte grinning like a buffoon, calling failure a win, calling Trump a partner, and paving the way for more death, more disunity, and more disgrace.

There isn’t even a word strong enough for what Rutte has become. But one thing is clear: he is not the man NATO needs.

Hell! He is a man which NATO may not even survive.
