Monday in DC Proves Mark Rutte Is a Dancing Clown

The NATO Secretary-General, Mark Rutte, emerged from Monday’s White House meeting and proclaimed a breakthrough. He declared that President Trump’s vague talk of “security guarantees” represented progress. He even called it “a big step.”
This is not analysis. This is a clownish performance, a politician mistaking surface theater for substance, mistaking words for facts, mistaking poison for medicine.
Let us be clear: nothing about Monday was a breakthrough. The real baseline is this—Trump has fixed on one line of attack, that Ukraine must accept “territorial exchanges” as the price of peace. That frame is out in the open now.
The only reason the Oval Office did not collapse into full inversion on Monday is because Zelenskyy and the European leaders stood their ground. They blunted Trump’s immediate push. But blunting is not victory. It is only a delay.
Trump left the table with his and Putin’s frame intact: Ukraine as the obstacle to peace, the West as unreasonable, and himself as the broker of guarantees. His “a week or two” remark is not cause of optimism, it is a tell.
Trump is kicking the can down the road, waiting to press harder when he thinks the ground has softened. Meanwhile, his Truth Social post last night already began the inversion—blaming Ukraine for refusing to yield. That is the reality. The inversion has already begun.
Rutte either cannot see this or will not. He dances for the cameras, reassuring allies with empty words. But optimism at this stage is not just misguided, it is strategically suicidal.
To call this a breakthrough is to invite catastrophe. A security guarantee without a ceasefire is a mirage. Territorial concessions dressed up as “exchanges” are surrender.
Any Western leader who hails such talk as progress is not defending Europe but undermining it.
I for one will not mistake performance for reality. I will not call a blunting a breakthrough. I will not applaud a traitor-general for dangling false promises while he advances Putin’s frame.
Rutte dances in the circus tent, playing clown to Trump’s ringmaster. I stand outside, telling the truth: the danger is not passed. It is only deferred, and each deferral deepens the risk.
Monday did not bring peace. It set the stage for inversion, and it revealed who in the West still cannot tell the difference between a line of Kremlin script and a line of real defense.
As such, it is clear that Rutte is not but a dancing clown.
Me? The wise? We are the anti-Rutte. We will not clap for evil like seals doing trick.
