Ban away, Spez. You do nothing but destroy your own platform same as Musk.
Ban away, Spez. You do nothing but destroy your own platform same as Musk.

Once again, Reddit and its CEO, Steve "Spez" Huffman, have shown their true colors. In the ongoing war for truth, dignity, and democracy, Reddit has positioned itself not as a neutral platform, but as a quiet enabler of authoritarianism.

While Trumpist and Putinist trolls are allowed to swarm, harass, and intimidate those who stand against the evils these two men embody, those who fight back — especially those who push back forcefully — are the ones who face bans, suspensions, and silencing.

This is not some accident of moderation. This is not some neutral application of rules. This is a calculated tilting of the battlefield, designed to weaken resistance and protect the interests of the authoritarian cause.

The New Rules of the Game

  • Attackers Are Protected: Trolls who support Trumpism and Putinism operate with near impunity, weaponizing bad faith, disinformation, and personal attacks to create hostile environments for dissenters.

  • Defenders Are Punished: Those who stand up to these forces — who refuse to be cowed, who speak uncomfortable truths, who expose the true nature of authoritarian enablers — are the ones punished. If you push back with even half the ferocity used against you, Reddit will silence you.

  • Underhanded Tactics: Rules meant to preserve "civility" are selectively enforced. Civility becomes a weapon against the truth. Harassment is tolerated when it supports the "right" causes. Resistance is criminalized when it threatens the powerful.

Spez's Allegiances

Let's be blunt: Steve Huffman has shown again and again that he would rather coddle the forces of tyranny than risk angering them.

  • He allows disinformation about democracy to spread unchecked.

  • He permits harassment from right-wing trolls under the guise of "free speech."

  • He punishes forceful truth-tellers because they are bad for the business model that requires appeasing the angry and the ignorant.

Spez would rather you be polite to a fascist than stand firmly against them. He would rather silence the resister than risk the platform being labeled "biased" by bad actors who have no loyalty to truth in the first place.

Weakening Resistance by Design

Make no mistake: this is not mere cowardice. This is strategy.

By ensuring that the defenders of democracy must fight with one hand tied behind their backs, Reddit — like many other compromised platforms — increases the odds that the authoritarians win. Not through honest debate. Not through merit. But through exhaustion, attrition, and the quiet removal of every voice willing to name the threat for what it is.

This is how freedom dies in the modern world — not always through a dramatic coup, but drip by drip, silence by silence, ban by ban.

The Call to Action

  • Speak even louder elsewhere: Every platform that kneels to tyranny deserves to lose the voices that make it worth visiting.

  • Name the collaborators: We must not pretend that those who enable authoritarians are neutral or innocent. They are collaborators, whether through cowardice or calculation.

  • Build resilient networks: Authoritarians win when they isolate us. We must find each other, support each other, and create spaces they cannot easily poison.

If we allow platforms like Reddit, under the guidance of leaders like Steve Huffman, to dictate the terms of resistance, we will find ourselves gagged and shackled just when the fight for democracy demands our loudest, fiercest voices.

Never forget: those who would silence the truth are every bit as dangerous as those who would erase it.
