Jake Broe Still Doesn’t See the Way Trump Is Working for the Russians

Jake Broe has done more than most to raise awareness about the war in Ukraine. His updates are diligent, passionate, and usually grounded in good faith analysis. But in his latest video, he misses the point—not just by inches, but by miles. Because while he rightly calls out the issues with anti-corruption oversight in Ukraine a serious problem, he misreads the intent, underestimates the danger, and—most fatally—continues to treat Trump’s sabotage of Ukraine as anything other than what it is: strategic assistance to Vladimir Putin.
Broe doesn’t believe President Zelenskyy’s explanation that Russian spies have infiltrated Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies, necessitating emergency reforms. But I do. I believe Zelenskyy is telling the truth. Because if you're a wartime president facing down an existential enemy who has penetrated your internal enforcement organs, you don’t wait for consensus. You act. And you do so knowing the West will gasp in horror at your imperfect solution while they do effectively nothing to stop the genocidal invader at your gates.
Meanwhile, Broe offers cautious optimism over U.S.-chartered 747s landing in Poland and a $322 million arms deal approved for Ukraine. But let’s do the math. Those three flights? They delivered maybe $10 million in hardware. The entire arms package? Paid for by Ukraine. And in strategic terms? It amounts to 1/200th of Biden-era military aid.
Let that sink in. 1/200th of the support. And Biden’s support was free. Free for Ukraine.
This isn’t “help.” This is appearance management. The Trump administration is allowing just enough aid to land to give commentators like Broe something to point to—some evidence, however thin, that support is ongoing. But support is not ongoing. Strategic support has been severed. What remains is a lie told in logistics: just enough cargo, just enough headlines, just enough plausible deniability to mask Trump’s betrayal.
And the NATO Patriot/Arms Deal Trump announced with Mark Rutte? Still unfunded, undelivered, and collapsing before our eyes. Germany hasn’t moved. Italy and France have rejected the deal outright. Not a single system has arrived in Ukraine. Trump never intends to help Ukraine win the war—he only wants to look like he is participating, and just long enough to keep critics confused and Ukraine unsupported.
Jake Broe doesn’t see this yet. He’s focused on facts but not on frameworks. He sees the symptoms but not the system. And until he understands asymmetric warfare—until he stops assuming Trump is merely disorganized and begins accepting that Trump is working for Putin—his analysis will continue to miss the deepest truth:
Trump is helping Russia win. On purpose. With coordination. And at scale.
So if you want to understand the betrayal of Ukraine, you have to start there.
